EUROPEAN BUSINESS AWARDS ANNOUNCES NATIONAL FINALISTS

After the toughest first round of judging ever experienced by a judging panel at the European Business Awards, entrants in the 2012/13 European Business Awards have been informed this week whether or not they were successful in making it through to the next round of Europe’s most prestigious business competition. Engaging with over 15,000 of Europe’s most innovative and entrepreneurial businesses, the judges faced an immense task for this year’s Awards programme.  For 2012/13, just 627 have made it through the initial judging process to become National Finalists for their respective countries. In the next round of the competition, National Finalists will produce video presentations for assessment by a second judging panel made up of experts from their own region as well as Europe-wide business leaders, academics and entrepreneurs. Up to 80 judges will sit on the panel that will award the most successful organisations National Champion status for each country. Judging of the National Finalists will take place from 6th to 25th September 2012.

Adrian Tripp, CEO of the European Business Awardssays, “This is the first year that the European Business Awards has introduced the National Finalists phase of the judging process. This new selection process was introduced for two main reasons; first, it gives entrants a greater opportunity to see their achievements recognised in front of peers, politicians and mediawithin their own countries and second, it gives the judges greater access to the organisations in order to determine a more accurate picture of the very best in European business. As organisers of the awards, we believe this improved strategy further positions the European Business Awards as the most respected and significant awards programme in Europe.”

In the penultimate round of the competition National Champions will be reassessed by a third panel of judges who will award the top 110 organisations in Europe Ruban d’Honneur status. Then finally, after rigorous face-to-face presentations assessed in front of a judging panel, the Ruban d’Honneur recipients will be honoured and the names of the Award Winners revealed as Europe’s top businesses at a gala awards ceremony in April 2013.
