REGINALD BLENNERHASSETT

Pro Vice-Chancellor and Director of Finance, University of Roehampton

Reggie Blennerhassett joined the University of Roehampton in 2007 and was appointed as Pro Vice-Chancellor and Director of Finance in 2011, following his previous appointment as Director of Finance. Prior to this Reggie was based at the Royal Veterinary College, where he had been Director of Finance and a member of their Finance Office since 1991. At Roehampton Reggie has responsibility for Finance, HR, Estates and Campus Services, Legal Services, the University Library and IT and Media Services.

Since Reggie’s appointment at the University, financial sustainability and liquidity have improved and the University has been in surplus.  In a difficult financial climate, Reggie has secured funding to support a major capital programme providing new buildings for the future, which includes two student accommodation halls of residence, new conference facilities and a new library. As part of the senior team, Reggie has increased the global reach of the University which is receiving increasing numbers of applications for a place at the University. The Conferencing department, overseen by Reggie, has also increased financial security for the University through hosting professional conferences and private functions within the University’s beautiful stately buildings, the new conference centre and grounds.

Together with the senior team, Reggie has developed international study abroad partnerships and collaborations with Glion Institute of Higher Education, Schiller International University and Laureate International Universities. New subject areas are being developed in law and accountancy and 7,000 students are now studying Roehampton degrees online. Roehampton has been named as the best new university in London for student experience alongside being recognised as the most research intensive modern University in UK.

Reggie is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce.  He is also patron of the Free2B Alliance a London based Community Interest Company, supporting LGBTQ+ young people and parents. When Reggie is not working he enjoys sailing and has recently taken up marathon running taking part in 6 marathons in 3 years.
