Dr Marszalec is the founder of JMC, a software development company (www.jmc.pl) which has operated for more than 20 years, and has clients in Europe, Asia and the USA. He is also the founder of the Edison Centre - a business to promote innovation and entrepreneurship to the youth, scientists and engineers (www.CentrumEdisona.pl).
Dr Marszalec is also a lecturer at the Warsaw University of Technology. He teachers entrepreneurship and management and also offers a special course for doctoral candidates on how to commercialize the results of scientific research.
He spent more than 15 years in some of the most successful Finnish innovation clusters in Oulu and Helsinki. As a senior research scientist at VTT-Technical Research Centre of Finland, he lead numerous large-scale projects for clients such as Nokia, the European Space Agency, and various companies located at technology park Technopolis. He also acts as a consultant to companies in both Finland and Poland.
As he himself crossed the border between science and industry, and moved from scientific research to business, his knowledge, experience and expertise is also highly appreciated by scientific institutions in Poland and abroad. He occasionally runs courses and workshops and provides consultancy services for such clients.
Dr. Marszalec holds Ph.D. degree from Warsaw University of Technology and MBA from University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management. He holds several patents and has authored more than 100 publications on technology, innovation and entrepreneurship, including his latest book „How to Become an Entrepreneur: Build Your Own Company and Succeed”.
In his free time he enjoys listening to classical music, playing the accordion, reading books and photography. He publishes his pictures of interesting scenes from Warsaw on a website – www.FacesofWarsaw.com – which he developed to share with the world the history, atmosphere and beauty of Warsaw.
