FAROUK RAMZAN

Head of Commercial Banking Europe, Lloyds Banking Group

Farouk began his career in 1990 at Kleinwort Benson’s International Corporate Finance division focusing on Mergers & Acquisitions.

Following two years in the International Structured Products Group developing tax based financing structures (1993-1995), Farouk joined Global Debt Origination at Dresdner Kleinwort originating capital markets products for corporates and financials in the UK and USA. Between 1999 and 2001 he continued this role in New York, returning to the UK in 2001 with Société Générale where he was Head of UK/US/Australasian Debt Capital Markets Origination (covering Loans, Bonds, Securitisation and Tax & Debt Advisory).

In 2007 Farouk moved to Lloyds as Head of Capital Markets Origination (consisting of global DCM for corporate and financial institution clients as well as global Capital Structuring Advisory and Ratings). In a broadening in career to cover all clients, products, regulatory responsibility with Central Banks and a build-out/delivery of strategic business throughout Western Europe, in 2014, Farouk began his European Commercial Banking role.  This encompasses all the European commercial banking business at Lloyds Bank Group where he is a member of the Senior Leadership Group.

For the last two years Farouk has been in the Sunday Times Top 10 To Watch List of Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) leaders in the United Kingdom.  He is married with four children and lives in West London which means that he will be part of the global workforce for many years to come.
