Dr Marszalec is the founder of JMC, a software development company (www.jmc.pl) which has operated for more than 20 years, and has clients in Europe, Asia and the USA. She is also the co-founder of the Edison Centre - a business to promote innovation and entrepreneurship to the youth, scientists and engineers (www.CentrumEdisona.pl).
She worked for more than 10 years at the University of Oulu (Finland) carrying out research in the area of color computer vision, where she developed one of the first biometric algorithms for face recognition, and a method to use information from a color camera to diagnose skin cancer.
She was also a senior research scientist at VTT - The Technical Research Center of Finland in Helsinki (working with computer vision and AI) and a visiting scientist at School of Computer Science, Robotics Institute, Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh (USA).
She is docent at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of Oulu in the area of color computer vision.
Dr. Elżbieta Marszalec holds Ph.D. degree from Warsaw University of Technology and she studied business in Hanken School of Economics in Helsinki.
Elżbieta was awarded the name of the Ambassador of Women Entrepreneurship in Poland in 2017. She is also active in the family business field and is a Vice-President of the Women's Economic Council for Entrepreneurship and Development in Poland.
