David Clayton-Smith is Chairman of Kent, Surrey & Sussex Academic Health Science Network responsible for pulling together health science/tech commercial and academic partners to work with the National Health Service to develop and spread innovation in health and social care whilst supporting wealth creation in the UK.

He also Chairs East Sussex Healthcare NHS trust which operates Eastbourne and Hastings General Hospitals and community Services, the Trust employs 6000+

David spent 25 yrs. in senior board commercial roles in the brewing industry and as a Board Director of three large UK Retailers including Boots and Halfords. He has also been Chair of MBO start ups and UK listed media businesses.

He was Chair of The Fairtrade Foundation, in the UK for 6 yrs. and served on the International Board of Fairtrade based in Bonn. He now is an Advisory Board Member of Coffee Assurance Services CAS, also in Bonn

He has held a number of Non-Executive Director roles in the commercial public and not for profit sectors, most recently as Chair of Thames Valley Housing operating 15,000 houses in the private rental and affordable housing sectors.
