One Year On - How Pipistrel is flying high thanks to the European Business Awards

Pipistrel CEO Ivo Boscarol was very proud of the achievements made last year by his growing team at its small aviation factory in Slovenia. So much so, he decided to enter its innovative work into the European Business Awards.

Nearly one year on from submitting that application and seven months on from winning the category outright, he is amazed at the opportunities that have come his way since Pipistrel won the award.

Sitting in his office at the company base in Ajdovščina, he told us: “Winning the European Business Award is a great honour and an important reference for Pipistrel. It has most certainly given our company more recognition and gravitas in the business circles and in the eyes of the wider public alike.

"The Award for Innovation has generated immense interest in the media, both local and world-wide, and thus helped us make some connections we couldn't otherwise. I'm already noticing some long-term effects of being a winner of such an important award. The trust of our custumers has risen, the name of the company is more recognisable.

"It is a great reference to be used in the international trade and it might help us win the trust of foreign customers. They sometimes perform an Internet search for the name of the company and find it referenced in connection to world's leading banks and other institutions of great importance. I do not need to emphasise the importance of such reference."

And he has some messages of encouragement for those still considering an entry to this year's awards programme.

"We proved that good companies can get the recognition they deserve, whatever European country they come from. We have seen benefits from entering the awards programme and I hope our story will motivate companies big and small to enter. I wish all of this year’s competitors good luck in the competition!"
