New Patron Announced for European Business Awards

It is with great pleasure that the European Business Awards is able to announce that the European Commissioner for Trade, Karel De Gucht has been confirmed as an official patron.

Designed to recognise and reward excellence, best practice and innovation in the European business community, the European Business Awards is now in its seventh year and has grown in size and stature year-on-year. In 2011, the awards engaged with over 15,000 businesses across 28 European countries and the combined turnover of the 2011 EBA entrants was over 1 trillion Euros.

Commenting on becoming a patron for the awards, Mr De Gucht says:  "With Europe's economic future dependent on the strength of our companies and industries, I think it is important that we showcase our most exceptional businesses, share knowledge and generate debate around the creation of a stronger European business community. The European Business Awards does just that, as well as ensuring the outstanding talent, energy, creativity and innovation of our business community is recognised. This is why the EBA is such a valuable initiative and why I am honoured to be its patron."

RSM, the seventh largest global accounting network, has become the lead sponsor for the European Business Awards to April 2014. This is the sixth year in which RSM has supported the Awards programme, but the first time the network has chosen to become lead sponsor and spearhead the prestigious European awards.

Europe’s 100 Most Dynamic Companies Celebrated in Leading Business Awards Programme

The European Business Awards has today announced the names of the 100 companies that have achieved the coveted Ruban d’Honneur status in this prestigious 2012/13 awards programme.

Over the past two months, an esteemed panel of judges made up of European business leaders, academics and entrepreneurs has assessed the 200 companies that made it through to the National Champions stage of the awards. From these, 100 businesses from 28 countries across Europe have been chosen as Ruban d’Honneur recipients. They have been picked for their business accomplishments as well as their dynamism, focus and ethical standards. 

Each of the National Champions was judged in one of ten individual award categories covering Innovation, Growth Strategy, Environmental & Corporate Sustainability, Customer Focus, Employer of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Import/Export and  Business of the Year [t/o €0-25m], [t/o €150m+] and [t/o €26-150m].

Intensive face-to-face interview sessions with the judging panels will now take place before the ten overall category winners are announced at a gala event in April 2013.

This year, for the first time, entrants in the European Business Awards submitted a video case study as part of the judging process. All case studies were uploaded onto the European Business Awards website and an online public voting mechanism was introduced.

The organisers of the European Business Awards (www.businessawardseurope.com) have today announced the names of 100 National Champions from 18 European countries who will go forward into the next round of the prestigious 2012/13 Awards programme.  The remaining National Champions will be announced after a series of exclusive country events being held across Europe. These events will be hosted throughout November by the British Ambassador to each specific country in association with the UKTI (UK Trade & Investment) and awards’ sponsor RSM International.   

Three weeks in to the European Business Awards online public vote and over 25,000 votes have already been submitted. In 2011, the EBAs engaged with over 15,000 organisations in over 30 countries showcasing the best in class from a diverse range of industries including cosmetics, engineering, fashion, online businesses, manufacturing and transport.
