New Patron Announced for European Business Awards - Karel De Gucht

New Patron Announced for European Business Awards

It is with great pleasure that the European Business Awards is able to announce that the former European Commissioner for Trade, Karel De Gucht has been confirmed as an official patron.

Designed to recognise and reward excellence, best practice and innovation in the European business community, the European Business Awards is now in its seventh year and has grown in size and stature year-on-year. In 2011, the awards engaged with over 15,000 businesses across 28 European countries and the combined turnover of the 2011 EBA entrants was over 1 trillion Euros.

Commenting on becoming a patron for the awards, Mr De Gucht says:  "With Europe's economic future dependent on the strength of our companies and industries, I think it is important that we showcase our most exceptional businesses, share knowledge and generate debate around the creation of a stronger European business community. The European Business Awards does just that, as well as ensuring the outstanding talent, energy, creativity and innovation of our business community is recognised. This is why the EBA is such a valuable initiative and why I am honoured to be its patron."

CEO of the European Business Awards, Adrian Tripp adds, “Mr De Gucht has supported the awards for many years and it is a real pleasure to have him on board as a patron. For me, it is important that our patrons have a genuine interest in the awards and Mr De Gucht has shown not only a professional but also a personal interest in what we are achieving with our programme.”

Since its inception in 2007, the European Business Awards have seen many successful business relationships forged between entrants. Moving forward, the organisers of the awards are looking to further harness these business benefits and create even more influential networking opportunities. The awards programme has recently celebrated a new lead sponsor for 2013/14 in the form of international audit, tax and advisory network, RSM.

The 2012/13 awards are current in the final stages with winners of the ten categories being announced at a gala dinner and awards ceremony in Istanbul in June 2013. The 2013/14 awards are now open for entries.
