Rune started Relekta, selling repair and maintenance products for garages, construction and industry in 1977 (Rune was then 19 years). Norsk industriolje (Norwegian Industrial Oil) sells high quality oil, grease and additives and was started by Rune in 1982. The companies were sold to the listed Swedish Indutrade AB in April 2015.

Rune led Relekta-Group until March 2016. Under his leadership the company was in 2016 ranked no 1 in Great Place to Work Norway for midsize companies and Employer of the Year 2015/2016" by European Business Awards. Relekta was also awarded “Climber of the year” for 2015 by Great Place to Work Norway.

Rune has also started and operated Norsk Teknologiutvikling AS (an inventor company developing new products and patents) and Relekta Data AS (selling computer supplies and accessories). Currently Rune operates Norwegian Ground (developing housing projects and investing in land development, new construction and renovation), RA Properties (owning and leasing out office space) as well as Archaeological Research (identifying historical sites and artifacts with filmmaking as part of the documentation and information work). He is also a board member of a number of companies in various industries.

Rune live outside Oslo, also spending a lot of time on socially beneficial work that he has organized through several foundations.
