Ged Davis
Ged is a member of the Managing Board of the World Economic Forum
and responsible for Strategic Insight activities of the Forum: Global Competitiveness Network, Global Risks Network, Annual Meeting Programme, World Scenario Series and internal support for Industry Partnerships. He joined the World Economic Forum in 2004 after 30 years in Royal Dutch Shell and extensive experience of managing strategy and business environment teams.
With Royal Dutch/Shell Group from 1972: 1982-86, Head of Planning, Europe; 1986-90, Head of Energy, Group Planning; 1990-94, Head, Group Investor Relations; 1994-98, Head, Scenario Processes and Applications and Head, Socio-Politics and Technology Team, Group Planning; 1999-2003, Vice-President, Global Business Environment, Shell International Limited and Head, Scenarios Team. 1996-97, Director, WBCSD's Global Scenarios; 1997-2000, Facilitator and Lead Author, IPCC's Emissions scenarios. 2002-03, Director, UNAIDS' "AIDS in Africa" scenario project. He is a Member of the Board of Governors, International Development Research Centre, Ottawa and a Member of the InterAcademy Council Study Panel on “Transitions to Sustainable Energy”.
Ged first graduated with a degree in Mining Engineering from Imperial College, London. He holds postgraduate degrees in Economics and Engineering from the London School of Economics and Stanford University.
