Yiannis Kypri

YIANNIS KYPRI – Group Chief General Manager, Bank of Cyprus

Yiannis Kypri is an Executive Director and the Group Chief General Manager of the Bank of Cyprus Group.

Yiannis studied Economics at the London School of Economics and is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He joined the Bank of Cyprus in 1980 and held various positions at the Bank which have given him a wide experience on all aspects of banking business. These include Strategic planning, Financial Control, Corporate Finance, Investment and Private Banking, Treasury, Risk Management, Operations, Information Technology and managing the operations of New Markets (Russia, Romania and Ukraine).

On 1st January 2005 he was appointed as a member of the Bank of Cyprus Top Executive team which has led the Group to unprecedented levels of performance, in terms of growth and profitability, as well as steering it successfully to come out of the recent world financial and economic crisis virtually unscathed.

He was a founding member and served as Chairman of the Cyprus Public Companies’ Association for six years, and played an important role in the formation of the Cyprus Stock Exchange in 1996.

He is also the Chairman of the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation and was instrumental in its creation in 1984.

Yiannis is also a Trustee of the Bank of Cyprus Oncology Centre, which was established in 1998, a centre of excellence for the treatment of cancer in Cyprus.
