Pierluigi Orati

PIERLUIGI ORATI – Country Risk Manager, Enel SPA, Sustainability expert and consultant, freelance journalist

Pierluigi has a strong background in economics and he joined Enel group ten years ago starting in the Generation and Energy Management (GEM) business.
Three years of experience in the so called “engine room” were enough in order to understand the complexity of business within Electricity.

In 2003 he joined the Investor Relations team where actively participated in the Enel II and Enel III public offerings, managed relations with Institutional Investors and Financial Analysts and produced regularly sensitive documentation for the Top Management and the Board of Directors.

Pierluigi has been several years in charge of relations with Sustainability Analysts and Social Responsible Investors answering their questions and providing them with all the necessary information about Enel’s CSR. Furthermore he represents Enel at Universities and at international conferences.

The creation of a section of Enel’s CSR home page to involve stakeholders directly through multidimensional scaling (Sustainability Meter) was one of Pierluigi’ specific tasks and the broad response of stakeholders seems to indicate the success of the initiative.

Pierluigi is a member of the international GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) Working Group Board, involved in revising and discussing worldwide with Enel’s competitors and NGOs in order to cooperate with them in writing the new CSR guidelines and indicators for companies in the energy industry (EUSS).
He is also a member of the International Scientific Board Committee of “La Finanza” two-monthly magazine of Economy, Finance and Geopolitics.

Pierluigi is currently working as Country Risk Manager for Enel where he is in charge of relations with the ECAs (Export Credit Agencies) at a global level.
